Carolyn Bergahl Ryan

Carolyn Bergdahl Ryan, 76, of Simpsonville, South Carolina passed away on Tuesday, January 23, 2018. Carolyn was born December 23,1941 to Clara and Carl Bergdahl in Newark, New Jersey. Carolyn spent her childhood in Ridgewood, NJ before the family moved to Florida. Carolyn is a graduate of Fort Lauderdale High School and The University Of Miami (FL), where she earned a degree in Accounting and Finance.

As a young woman, Carolyn enjoyed traveling and worked overseas with Healthcare Systems of America. Later, she resided in Surfside Beach, SC with her family. She was a devoted volunteer at St. Andrews Catholic School, a troop leader with the Girls Scouts, and a supportive tennis mother. In retirement, she was an avid reader, enjoyed listening to Johnny Mathis, and spending time with her daughter, Melissa, while watching grandsons, Dylan and Mason, play sports.

Carolyn is survived by her sister Caren Hewitt of Orlando, FL, daughters Melissa (Patrick) Marsh of Fountain Inn, SC, Dawn Karsten of Inglewood, FL, Melinda (Jason) Bartlett of Lexington,NC and a son, Dwyane Karsten, of West Palm Beach FL and 13 Grandchildren: Kimberly, Lindsey, Patrick, Ryan, Austin, Robert, Dylan, William, Mason, Lillianne, Jennevieve, Emmaleigh, and Katherine, and a great grandson, Kooper.



In keeping with Carolyn’s wishes, a private memorial service will be held at a later date.
