Dora Berry Davis

Dora Davis Berry departed this life peacefully on Thursday, September 28, 2017 at home. She was the daughter of the late Adrain Nathaniel Berry and Nellie Henderson Berry. Dora was born on May 26, 1933 in Huntersville, North Carolina. Sue, as she was affectionately known, was a graduate of Torrence-Lytle High School, Class of 1952, where she played Basketball and Softball and member of the Y-Teen Club. Sue attended Carver College where she studied Financing.

Sue attended The United House of Prayer for All People in Huntersville, N.C. before she moved to Charlotte, North Carolina. While living in Charlotte she attended University Park Baptist Church. Sue then moved to Newark, New Jersey where she was a faithful member and Usher at Greater Harvest Baptist Church for twenty-five years until she retired and relocated back to the Carolinas in 2004. She retired from the Mortgage Department at Howard Bank. When Sue was not working she enjoyed traveling to Atlantic City, Las Vegas and other trips with the family.

Sue is preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, Mary Ann Barringer, Lucy Jane Ross, Edna Barringer, one brother, Joseph Berry, two sons, Darrell (Buck) Fleming Berry and Scottie Leonard Davis.
Sue leaves to mourn, one longing daughter, Tangie Berry, her caregiver after her health declined. Tangie loved her mother and was there for her when she went home. Grandson, Patrick Carr, Charlotte, NC. She is also survived by four sisters, Ida Katherine Brown, Charlotte, N.C., Melissa Sherrill and Evelyn Barringer, Huntersville, N.C. and Katie May McNeely, Charlotte, N.C., eleven nieces, ten nephews and a host of great nieces and nephews.
