Gene Russell Curtis and Nancy Jean White were married in Donaldsonville, Georgia on March 29, 1975. Nancy moved to Columbia, South Carolina with her Husband in the latter part of 1975 due to his job transfer. Again, in 1979 and 1981, work demanded that Gene and Nancy relocate. It was only in the last few years that the Curtis’ moved to Travelers Rest where Nancy, Gene, and their son, Christopher, happily settled down.
Nancy was a God loving woman whom cherished reading the Bible, traveling, and spending time with her family and friends. Nancy had an enormous heart for taking care of people in need and it was this passion that led both Gene and Nancy to open and operate a children’s home in 1982. The home wasn’t closed until 1988 but it was during this six-year period that over 200 children were provided with nourishment, shelter, kinship and most of all…never ending LOVE and SUPPORT!
