Kathryn Pruitt Whiten

April 17, 1942 — November 2, 2017

Kathryn Pruitt Whiten, 75, loving wife to Eddie Whiten, Sr. of Townville, S.C. passed away Thursday, November 2nd, 2017.

Born in Greenville, she was the daughter of the late Emory and Ruby Pruitt of Easley.

She was a proud business owner, operating her own beauty shop in her childhood neighborhood for twenty five plus years. She never met a stranger; receiving and loving everyone unconditionally. She was a devoted woman of God who loved her family, always teaching her children to love each other above all else. She loved caring for and cooking for her family, friends, and complete strangers. She was especially devoted to and adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

In addition to her husband of 57 years, she is survived by her children: Denise Whiten Gibbs (Joe) of Burnsville, N.C., Penny Whiten Evitt (Glenn), Robin Whiten Holliday (Chuck) of Easley, and Eddie Whiten, Jr. of Anderson; sisters Emmaline Pearson, Lurline Finley and Mary Ellen Collins of Greenville, a brother Claude Pruitt of Easley; grandchildren Symatha Gibbs Hughes (Tyler), Leigh Gibbs Suico (Gerrard), Hunter Spear Holliday, Jacob Robert Whiten (Ashley), Ryker Forrest Holliday, Jarrad Amon Whiten, Chloe Isabella Holliday, Remington and Leanna Bearden; great grandchildren Piper Leigh Hughes, Lucas Kade Whiten and Amelia Grace Hughes.
Along with her parents, Kathryn was predeceased by a brother Thomas Pruitt and a sister Linda McHugh.

The Family will host a memorial service at 12:00pm on Monday, November 6th, 2017, at Easley First Baptist. Receiving of friends will be held directly after the service, at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association and to the Upstate Hospice House of Anderson.
