Robert Schenk

April 2, 1952 — July 12, 2017

Robert Schenk, 65, of Simpsonville, South Carolina went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 12, 2017 at Greenville Memorial Hospital in Greenville. Born in the Bronx, New York, he was the son of the late, John Schenk and Marion Agnes Schenk of New York, New York. Robert was formerly married to the late Teresa Ann Schenk, who also went to be with the Lord in 1999.

Robert is survived by his brother, John Schenk, Jr. of Hyde Park, New York; his son, Brian Jeffrey Schenk of Evans City, Pennsylvania; his daughter, Sarah Elizabeth Elrod of Greenville, South Carolina; his three grandchildren, Brianna Leigh Schenk of Evans City, Pennsylvania, Brandon Robert Elrod of Greenville, South Carolina and Mia Elizabeth Ann Benton of Greenville, South Carolina.

Robert was an honest, caring, respectable and hard working man who will be dearly missed by so many. Robert was a former Micro Chip Analyst and Computer Specialist while working with I.B.M. in Fishkill, New York. He was also a respected electrician for more than 20 years. He retired in 2015 from Wasserstrom, Inc. ( Gen III ) in Fountain Inn, South Carolina.

Robert was an avid gun and knife collector. He was a proud carrier of his concealed weapons permit and was also a registered member of the National Rifle Association. He loved the outdoors, so much that you could always count on seeing a variety of different birds coming and going from the numerous bird feeders throughout the year. When he was able, Robert enjoyed taking his dogs, the late, “ Gibbs “ and the former, “ Pinto “ for weekend hikes on different trails throughout the state and good ole “ Fetch “ was always on the agenda unless tennis or golf was on television for the day. Robert played varsity tennis for Roosevelt High School in Hyde Park, New York and he also enjoyed lifting weights with his brother. John Schenk, Jr. was Christened on April 20, 1952 in St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in the Bronx, New York. He was a wonderful father, grandfather, brother, husband and a daughter’s hero and best friend.

In accordance with Robert’s wishes, no formal services will be held and cremation is being held. Condolences may be expressed directly to the family. For those who desire memorial donations, the family wishes to request donations in memory of Robert to any organizations whom are working to find cures for and to give hope to people with liver disorders.
