Alice May Bash Fish, 89, of Rolling Green Village, died on April 28, 2021. She was born on July 18, 1931, to Joseph Leonard and Miriam Cochran Bash in Pittsburgh, PA, and lived most of her life in Atlanta and Hartwell, GA, with the last 16 years in Greenville, SC.
Allie attended Pennsylvania College for Women, graduated from Mercer University in Atlanta, taught kindergarten for many years, and retired from Golder Associates. She dearly loved her family, always looking forward to visiting together and setting aside time every week to phone her four grandchildren. At each stage of life, she made close lifelong friendships, staying in touch with special friends through frequent phone calls, cards, and visits. She was a member of the DAR since childhood and served with Habitat for Humanity and Friends of the Library in Hartwell, GA. A woman of strong faith, she was active in Presbyterian churches throughout her life, teaching children and adults, serving as an elder, and participating in women’s ministries, Sunday School, and Bible studies. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Greenville, SC, and the Agape Fellowship Sunday School Class at the time of her death.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husbands Robert Fish and Richard Swain and four brothers. She is survived by her daughter, Tomi Wier (Joel) of Greenville; her son, Jeffrey Fish (Donna) of Beech Mountain, NC; two step-children, Diane Pogue (Tommy) of Texas and Thomas Swain of New York; four grandchildren, Andrew Fish, Erin Fish, Jana Wier Bruton (Seth), and William Wier (Ashley); and a great-granddaughter, Alice Lynn Bruton.
The family will receive friends on Friday, May 7, from 3:00 to 4:15pm in the parlor at First Presbyterian Church, with the memorial service to follow at 4:30pm in the church sanctuary. After cremation, the ashes will be placed in the Garden at Sharon Presbyterian Church in Hartwell, GA, with those of Robert Fish.
