Barbara Jeanette Senkbeil Heisley

Barbara Jeanette Senkbeil Heisley was born on September 29, 1936 in Atlanta, Georgia. She was raised by her Great Aunt and Uncle, Maude and Loring Aldrich. She passed away surrounded by family in Greenville, South Carolina on October 19, 2021 at 4:21 pm. She was the daughter of Albert J. Senkbeil and Phyllis Thomas. She was predeceased by her siblings, Mabel S. Wolfson, Theressa A. Hough, Richard H. Senkbeil, and Penelope D. Thompson. She is survived by her sister, Rita S. Burch; her brother, David D. Petrie; and her sister, Sylvia P. Nye; as well as her four daughters, Robin H. Helfers (Ken), Holly H. Carmichael (Jack), Shari H. Holbrook (David), and Wendy H. Watson (Rick). She had five grandchildren, Nick Helfers, Jen Watson, Christine Suchy, Kenny Carmichael, Tim Carmichael; and many nieces and nephews.
Barbara was a majorette in high school. She loved working as a lifeguard, swimming, fishing, cats, and cooking. She was a homemaker and her family was the most important thing in her life. She was a secretary at the Greenville County School District Office until her retirement. She loved her grandchildren to the moon and back.
Barbara’s family is grateful for the support, kindness, and guidance of the staff at Heartland Hospice.
Barbara’s family will be celebrating her life by gathering and sharing memories of her over a meal made from her recipes. Her cremains will be scattered in her favorite place at a later date.
