Bobbie Jo Kraft

February 15, 1977 — April 27, 2021

Bobbie Jo Kraft was born in Ishpeming Michigan to John and Carla Kraft. She is survived by her parents and two siblings, Stephanie Kraft (Chris Dion) and Aubrey Alkire (Mark), one niece, Aria Alkire, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. She has also left behind her two cats, Checkers, and Chess (her children)
Bobbie’s life was deeply affected by leukemia at the age of two that left her mildly mentally handicapped. In July of 2020, she once again developed cancer that left her physically handicapped. Bobbie never saw her handicaps as a deterrent to be a strong person and a fighter. She believed this cancer would not be the end of her, often saying “I beat cancer once; I’ll do it again.”
The best time of Bobbie’s life began in 2012 when she was introduced to Camp Spearhead. She was accepted and encouraged there. She was loved and appreciated at camp and that is where she fully blossomed in her personality.
Camp afforded her the opportunity to shine. She was helpful to others, and made a lot of friends, both in other campers and the many volunteers and staff. For four summers, she was a camper worker, which helped her to learn teamwork and patience. She was a hard worker. She would talk with anyone she met about the camp. Bobbie loved people and hardly ever met a stranger.
Bobbie made us proud of her by her caring, giving attitude. She enjoyed many crafts, bracelet making, ceramic figures and magnets, imaginative coloring and painting, and more.
She will be sadly missed, but she will go on in the hearts of many forever.

I am standing upon the seashore. A ship, at my side,
spreads her white sails to the moving breeze and starts for the blue ocean.
She is an object of beauty and strength.
I stand and watch her until, at length, she hangs like a speck of white cloud just where the sea and sky come to mingle with each other.
Then, someone at my side says, “There, she is gone.”
Gone where?
Gone from my sight. That is all. She is just as large in mast, hull and spar as she was when she left my side.
And, she is just as able to bear her load of living freight to her destined port.
Her diminished size is in me — not in her.
And, just at the moment when someone says,
“There, she is gone,”
there are other eyes watching her coming, and other voices ready to take up the glad shout,
“Here she comes!”
And that is dying…
