Charles "Charlie" Sams

Charles “Charlie” Sams passed away peacefully and surrounded by his family on July 21, 2022. He was preceded in death by his two children, Patricia Medford and Donna Heaton; and his son-in-law Robert Hall. Charles is survived by his wife, Patricia Lorraine Sams; children, Denise Sams Hall, Timothy Sams, Richard Sams, Candice Ehlenbach (Corey), and Don Farmer (Jan); 14 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.

If you didn’t know Charles well, you may have been fooled into thinking he was a stubborn old grump – that couldn’t have been further from the truth. Of all things in life, he treasured the laughter of others more than anything. Charles’ personality was magnetic and his laughter was infectious. He was quick with a joke, and his presence lit up the room. Charles was also an avid racing fan, and proudly served as the crew chief for his son Timothy, who is an accomplished stock car racer.

A memorial service will be held at the Chapel of Cremation Society of SC – Westville Funerals Sunday, July 24 at 11am.
