Charles E “Ed” Smith
Ed Smith, the husband of Hattie McLeod Smith, departed this life Sunday 2 May 2021 in Walhalla, SC. He was born in Sumter County on 15 July 1932 and lived and worked in the area for Booth Boyle Livestock/John Deere, Kneece Tractor, and Hose & Equipment, until his retirement at which time he moved to the upstate. He was the son of Thomas Hughson Smith and Sue Davis Smith. He is survived by his wife Hattie, sons Chuck (Edie), Jimmy(Linda), four grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, two sisters, Brenda Robertson(Cliff) and Marie Howard(Gene), and numerous nieces and nephews. He enjoyed fishing, his friends and family, and his work in the farming community and later in industrial sales. There will be a memorial service on 30 October 2021 1:00 pm at the Pinewood Cemetery.
