Constance Stover

January 10, 1943 — January 9, 2020

Constance Jean Stover, born in Aurora, Illinois on July 10, 1943, left this world on Sunday, January 19, 2020 at 76 years of age to walk into the arms of our Lord; finishing on earth what she set out to do. She is preceded in death by her parents, Herschel B. and Jean C. (Meyer) Stover of Aurora, Illinois.
She is survived by her three children. Oldest daughter, Kimberly Jean Nash (James) of Beloit, WI. Grandsons, Brandon M. Johnson (Erin), great-grandsons Koleson, Kennett, and Elliot Johnson of Delavan WI. and USAF Technical Sgt. Andrew M. Johnson of Texas.
One son, Charles Kent Shanholtzer of Greenwood, SC, and a youngest daughter, Kristine Roberts (Robert) , granddaughters, Miranda Shanholtzer and Arianna Winebarger of Greenwood, SC.
She also leaves behind her loving brother, David L. Stover, and sister-in-law, Karen, of Aurora, IL. One niece, Jennifer Stover-Jordan (Robert) of Aurora, IL, great-nephews, Ryan Jordan of Mt. Prospect, IL, Nicholas Jordan, of Elk Grove Village, IL, and a great-niece, McKenzie Jordan of Stevens Point, WI.
“Connie”, as all whom knew her, was a ’61 West Aurora High School graduate, and from there, graduated from the Copley School of Nursing. Connie spent a lifetime enjoying her treasured friendships from childhood and nursing school with “the Hens”, and dedicated her career caring for others, as she did in life; working as an Occupational Nurse at Caterpillar Tractor Co. in Montgomery, IL for 20 years before enjoying retirement in South Carolina. Her gypsy soul loved a good plane ride and she enjoyed her trips to Alaska and any other adventure life demanded. Her family was the “soul” purpose in her life and she unselfishly shared her gifts with her children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
She was an active member in both her community’s Catholic Churches; serving on the board at St. Vincent DePaul, the Catholic Womens’ Group and Holy Angels Catholic Church in Aurora. Connie was known for her beautiful talents with regard to quilts that were publicly displayed, wonderful home-cooked meals, breads, and bakery goods. Her dedication to genealogy was shared with importance and pride that held a story to each family heirloom, to which she distributed to each family member with a story behind it while she lived. It gave her tremendous joy to share stories of her childhood memories and create new ones with her family. Connie was a generous, devout Catholic with a heart of gold who would help anyone in need without question. Her example of dedication, faith, and inspiration will be greatly missed, as she always prayed the rosary for anyone in need of prayers. She leaves us all in comfort knowing that she was always spiritually prepared to be forever in heaven; and we’ve no doubt that it’s as beautiful as she’d dreamed it would be.
A Catholic Mass will be held in her name at Our Lady Lourdes Catholic Church on Thursday, January 30, 2020. Join our family in silent and personal prayer of the rosary for our Mother and Aunt, as she will hear our prayers and intentions this day in heaven. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate dedicated sympathies and condolences to the Greenwood Catholic Women’s Club Sunshine Fund located at 915 Mathis Rd. in Greenwood, South Carolina in Connie Stover’s name, as this charity was close to her heart. Amen.
