Daniel “Dan” Athan Allen, Jr., 79, of Marietta, SC passed away on Thursday, December 16, 2021. He was born in Mountainview, MO to the late Daniel and Virginia Ruth Hunt Allen, Sr. He served in the US Army during Vietnam and was a lifetime member of the NRA. He studied engineering at Clemson University, and he held three patents for carpet recycling and retired from Wellman, Inc. after 40 years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Franklin Curtis Allen. Surviving are his wife, Karen Patterson Allen; son, Daniel (Heather) Jay Allen; granddaughter, Diana Raye Allen; stepson, Justin (Brittany) D. Munnerlyn; grandchildren, Sullivan D. and Hadley Rose Munnerlyn; brother, Robert Bruce Allen; and 3 fuzzbutts, Echo, Charlie-the-crackhouse-kid, and Bubba. A Memorial Service with Military Honors will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, January 15, 2022 at Overcome Church, 6914 White Horse Road, Greenville, SC with Pastor Jimmy Cagle officiating. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Overcome Church, PO Box 14938, Greenville, SC 29611.
