David Alan Pantaloni

November 9, 1953 — June 10, 2022

David Alan Pantaloni (Dave) left this world on June 10th, 2022. He was born in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania on November 9th, 1953 to the late John and Matilda Pantaloni, a civil servant and a secretary.
David went to Ferrum College in VA after high school. He completed his education at Emporia State University in Kansas, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor’s degree in Business in 1977. This was the beginning of a successful career in sales. He had his own Import Oriental Rug business where he traveled to the USA and Mexico for sales. He sold security systems for ADT and Priority One, carpet and flooring for Home Depot, and guns at Allen Arms of Greenville, SC. Many times he won the top sales associate with multiple companies.
He loved the ocean and became a Dive Master in FL helping people scuba dive. He had many close calls while spearfishing with friends. One time a Hammerhead Shark wanted the fish! There were other close calls too. He spent many years with friends and his sister Alison scuba diving. He would say it was so peaceful beneath the waves.
He discovered his true passion when he became a concealed weapons permit instructor. He loved sharing his over 40 years of firearms experience with his students. Often they would comment that he made the class fun as well as instructional. He would ease his student's fears by telling jokes and comical stories. Dave could really tell great stories and jokes! He was very knowledgeable about a variety of firearms. He competed in IPSIC, IDPA, Three Gun, and CPSL frequently coming in at the top of large groups of competitors. He also continued training to improve his skills. He and his dear friend Frank (owner of Allen Arms) went together to TN for extensive training on using a shotgun for in-home defense. Dave also designed an in-home defense program to teach here in Greenville.
Dave loved playing the piano! He especially enjoyed having an audience listen and sing along. He knew he wasn’t an expert, but loved using his talent to enjoy life and make people happy. When he delivered food to shut-ins, the group of seniors at one facility would get everyone together just to listen to him for 15 minutes. It was the highlight of their day.
His other passion was fireworks. Being an old soul and very patriotic, the 4th of July was his favorite holiday. He would gather fireworks together throughout the year to be able to put on a big show. For many years he was blessed with setting up at the Bilicki’s range. He would use 6-8 pallets with cakes, mortars, and tube launchers screwed in and connected with a quick fuse so he could step back and watch with a large crowd the aerial display. He insisted that before the fireworks show, we would pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and sing our National Anthem!
Dave is survived by his wife Shelley, stepson Jedidiah, and stepdaughter-in-law Tasha McCormick. He is also survived by his brother John Pantaloni, sister Alison and brother-in-law Kevin Ryan, nephew Jack, and nieces Erika and Brittany Ryan.
