Rev. Felton B. Cox

Felton Cox, 97, a retired Baptist minister and husband of the late Agnes Owens Cox went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Tuesday, August 16, 2022.
A native of Greenville, he was the son of the late Lawrence E. and Mettie Adair Cox. Felton served in the Army Medical Corp in New Guinea during World War II.
He was called of God into Christian Ministry at the age of 35, at which time, with the support of his loving wife, he began the pursuit of higher education at North Greenville College, Furman University, and Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. During the course of his 33 years of pastoral ministry, he served the following Southern Baptist churches: Bethany in Fountain Inn, Woodland in Wake Forest, Mt. Gallagher in Ware Shoals, Nine Forks in Easley, and Riverview in Greenville. At the time of his death, he was a member of Berea First Baptist Church.
During all of his ministry, Felton was supportive of Baptist associational work, and held various offices in the local associations. He was instrumental in establishing the United Christian ministries and a Hispanic ministry in Pickens County. In 1989 the Church Administrative Services Department of the South Carolina Baptist Convention honored him as the Outstanding Small Church Pastor.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Norman, Albert, Louis, Rosa Lee, and Vallie Cox.
Felton is survived by his two sons Michael (Melody) Cox and Larry (Fauzia) Cox of Greenville; 9 Grandchildren: 20 Great Grandchildren; 5 Great Great Grandchildren.
Serving as pallbearers are Chad, Tatum, Jason and Jonathan Cox, Daniel McDuffie and Ryan Buck. The Doug Moody Sunday School Class will serve as honorary pallbearers.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, August 20, 2022 at Berea First Baptist Church. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service. A Graveside Service with Military Honors will follow at 1:00pm at Graceland Cemetery East.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Reaching Center at Berea First Baptist Church, 529 Farrs Bridge Road, Greenville SC 29611 or to the charity of one’s choice.
