Gerald E. “Jerry” Smith

August 15, 1930 — October 4, 2019

Gerald E. (Jerry) Smith entered heaven on October 4th, 2019. Jerry was born in Kusa, Oklahoma on August 15, 1930. He was the son of the late Lewis Smith and Ollie Edith Burke Smith and brother to the late Claude Smith.
Jerry served in the United States Navy from 1948 to 1952. Since 1980, he has been a member of 1st Baptist Church in Mauldin, S.C. He taught Sunday School for many years and served as Training Union director. He also coordinated the National Day of Prayer for the city of Mauldin for 16 years. He was a member of the Mauldin City Council for 4 years. He was also a member of the Lions Club, the Greenville Sertoma Club and the Mauldin Garden Club.
Jerry loved his cats, doing crossword puzzles, planting things and watching them grow, feeding and watching birds and playing bridge.
Jerry is survived by his wife Elizabeth Ann, son Wayne and wife Charmaine, daughter Kendall Badenoch and husband John, son Jeff, stepson Eric Fearn and wife Terri & stepson Chuck Fearn, Jr. and wife Hope. Jerry had 11 grandchildren & 14 great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial gifts be made to 1st Baptist Church of Mauldin and the Humane Society.
