Greene Franklin Tucker Jr.

Greene Franklin Tucker, Jr. 94, of Greenville, South Carolina died Saturday June 4, 2022, at home. Frank
was the third child of the late Greene Franklin Tucker and Mary Edna Babb Tucker and brother to Mary
Emma Tucker Cruikshank, Don Robert Tucker, and Charles Jackson Tucker. He was born in Atlanta,
Georgia but raised from early childhood in Greenville, graduating from Greenville High School in 1943.
Frank attended Clemson University before joining the Navy in 1944. Upon discharge, he attended the
University of Tennessee Chattanooga before graduating with a degree in accounting from Newberry
College in 1949. He spent most of his career in the textile industry working for Union Bleachery,
Southern Bleachery, and Burlington Industries before retiring from J.P. Stevens in 1986.
Frank married Betty Joyce Hiller, the love of his life, September 15, 1951. They spent 69 years together
raising 3 children, devoting their lives to each other, family, and friends. They shared a strong faith and
were active members of St. Michael Lutheran Church. Frank served numerous terms on Church Council
and on many committees. Frank and Joyce’s love of music led them to sing in church choirs their entire
lives.
Frank was predeceased by his wife, Joyce. He is survived by his two daughters, Elaine T. Finley (Dan) and
Susan T. Grant, a son Greene Franklin Tucker, III (Debra), six grandchildren, Heather Awtry, Jessica Carter
(Tyler), Stephanie Moscaritolo, (Adam), James Tucker (Shaunna), Catherine Finley, Michael Tucker, and
eight great-grandchildren. He will be remembered for his immense devotion to his family, his sense of
humor, and his integrity.
A celebration of Frank’s life will be held Saturday June 25th at 11:00 a. m. at St. Michael Lutheran Church.
