Janine Brown Slocum’s faith became sight early on July 21st, 2020 as she went home to be with her Savior in Heaven. She was born on October 18th, 1947 in Tampa, Florida to Russell and Lorene Brown. She is preceded in death by her parents and many other precious family members whom she loved dearly. Janine devoted her life to her family, her Fellowship Greenville church, and her counseling ministry to women in the Renewal Program at Miracle Hill Ministries. The Lord allowed her to touch many lives for His Kingdom through this Ministry. Janine loved studying Scripture, reading, travel, was a fierce prayer warrior, and enjoyed spending time in her garden. She is survived by her husband of over fifty-one years, Rev. William Slocum of Greenville, children Lori (Matt) Smith of Greer, Todd Slocum of Greenville, Kevin (Kasey) Slocum of Greer as well as 6 living grandchildren: Austin (Alexandra) Smith, Maddelynn Smith, Jason Smith, Lauryn Smith, Lilian Smith, and Zackary Slocum, her brother Dr. Doug (Beth) Brown of Lenoir City, TN, her sister-in-law Sue Ellen (Tim) Gabler of Bedford, Ohio, 5 nieces and nephews as well as her beloved dog, Angel.
After graduating from Bryan College with a degree in Christian Education, her working life was spent as a bank teller, a new car salesperson, a pastor’s wife (16 years), a Christian School teacher (12 years), an accounts receivable specialist and receptionist (17 years), and a drug and alcohol counselor for women struggling with life dominating addictions (17 years). Her friendly smile, bubbly personality, and many acts of kindness were her tools to help introduce people to Jesus Christ and the fullness of life that He offers.
