Kermit S. Taylor Jr.

Kermit S. Taylor Jr. went to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 3, 2020. His beloved wife of 64 years, Jeane R. Taylor, preceded him in death by only 4 days.
He was born on January 13,1932 in Honea Path, SC to Kermit S. Taylor Sr. and Anna Belle (Ellenburg) Taylor. He is survived by his three children, Donna Heath (Billy), Allen Taylor (Tanoa) and Melanie Thompson (Mike); grandchildren - Zack Taylor; Taylor Thompson (Danielle), and Andrew Thompson; Kyle and McKenzie Cooper; 4 great-grandchildren; his precious nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Rebecca T. Fisher.
He began his career as a truck driver at the age of 12, driving for his father. He served in the United States Army and returned home to work for his father until being promoted to Smith & Waters. The love of driving continued, even after he retired from Yellow Freight Corporation after more than 25 years of service. He and his wife, Jeane, enjoyed traveling the east coast while he showed her all the beautiful places he had seen while working. Their most favorite place of all was Edisto Beach.
He loved having time with family and friends, and the inevitable fun and laughter that those times brought. He loved his dog, Millie, and joined Jeane in making sure that she was spoiled properly. Kermit was a member of New Hope Baptist Church in Mauldin, SC.
A Memorial services will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, September 12, 2020 at New Hope Baptist Church, 509 S. Main Street, Mauldin SC. The family will receive friends prior to the service, from 1:00 - 1:45 pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Kindred Hospice.
