Lyell Pierce Whyte

Greenville, SC - Lyell Pierce Whyte, 93, of Greer, passed away Sunday, September 30, 2018 at Saint Francis Bon Secours Hospital.

Born in Rochester, New York, Lyell served in the US Navy as a Sea Bee in the South Pacific theater. He was a graduate of General Motors Institute. He retired from Carolina Eastman Company after 20 years of service. He was a communicant member of Diocese of the Holy Cross in Columbia SC.

Lyell is survived by his daughter Lindsay Whyte Winkler (Steven) of Greer, his son Lyell Tinney Whyte (Susan) of Taylors ;three grandchildren, Thomas O’neal Mckeown, Hunter O’neal Mckeown of Greenville, SC and Samuel Pierce Whyte of Taylors. He is predeceased by his wife, Elizabeth Ann Tinney Whyte of 62 years and a grandson, Chase O’neal Mckeown . A loving husband and devoted father, he enjoyed sailing, music and reading. His quick witted sense of humor and personality were enjoyed by all who knew and loved him.

Graveside Services will be at 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, October 23, 2018 at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 845 Leesburg Road, Columbia, South Carolina 29209.
