Margaret Stella Mardis Vincent

August 20, 1946 — March 10, 2021

Margaret Stella Mardis Vincent died March 4, 2021, after a lengthy battle with Parkinson’s Disease with Lewy Body Dementia. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to many.
Margaret was born to Tom and Stella Mardis in Asheville, North Carolina, August 20, 1946. She was their only child. Early in her life they moved to Barnwell, South Carolina, where she grew up and graduated from Barnwell High School. Margaret earned her Associates degree from Anderson College (now University) in Anderson, SC, where she met her husband of 54 years, Dan.
As Dan continued his education and followed a call to ministry, Margaret was a constant support, helping to type and edit seminary and doctoral papers, finding her own ways of serving God as a wife to a pastor and in raising three children, all while also working various clerical, and later banking, jobs of her own. She showed all who knew her grace and modeled sacrificial love throughout her life. She grew in her faith by teaching Sunday School and by being a constant, encouraging friend to many in her various churches and beyond. She showed her love of God by loving all of God’s people. She was a wonderful alto voice in many church choirs through the years and helped to instill in all her children a love of music.
Margaret is survived by her husband, Dan, of the home, her children, Keli Sewell (Dan) of Greer, Karon Nation (Rocky) of Seneca, and Tony Vincent (Kristen) also of Seneca. Additionally, she is survived by seven grandchildren, Daniel & Erik Sewell, Ryan, Thomas, and Margaret Nation, and Carter and Caroline Vincent. She loved her family dearly, making matters of their lives routine parts of her prayer life. She enjoyed her grandchildren’s sporting and music events, family beach vacations, and relaxing days by their pool. She was, as her eldest grandson first dubbed her, our “Paki,” and she will be deeply missed.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating in Margaret’s memory to Metanoia ( www.pushingforward.org ), a non-profit ministry that Margaret loved in North Charleston, SC, or to a non-profit organization of your choosing.
