Mary Kathe Gaines

Mary Katherine Gaines, formerly Mary Katherine (Kathy) Meade passed away November 20, 2018. Kathy was predeceased by husbands E. Victor Meade and Glenn Gaines.
Kathy met Vic at the University of Kansas and they were married in 1961 and moved to Asheville NC, where they raised children Laurie and Scott. In addition to being a homemaker, she found time to become certified as a Braille transcriptionist and led the Blue Ridge Braillers in making textbooks available to public school children in Buncombe County NC. Kathy was also a very talented artist and enjoyed playing tennis.
She is survived by her children Laura M. Heaton Smith (Anthony) of Seneca SC and Scott A. Meade (Cheryl) of Mountain City TN; grandchildren Maggie and Katie Heaton and Shane Meade (Jessie) ; great grandson Nolan Meade and loving companion Milton Braten of the home.
