Maxine Byrd

Maxine Byrd, 91, of Greenwood, South Carolina, passed away on Wednesday, March 17, 2021 at Prisma Health Greenville Memorial Hospital in Greenville, South Carolina. She was born on April 27, 1929 in Hickory, North Carolina to the late Lloyd Propst and Myrtle Lail Propst.
Mrs. Byrd was a 1947 graduate of St. Stephens High School in Hickory, North Carolina. First and foremost, she was a beloved mother and proud grandmother. She lived a full life as a wonderful mother, wife and homemaker. Maxine loved to cook and kept an immaculate house. A farm girl at heart, gardening was also a passion, having retired from Park Seed Company in Greenwood, South Carolina after 30 years of service. Most of all she loved her family and instilled in her son strong values that have served him well.
Left to cherish her memory are one son, Mark Byrd and wife Brenda of Simpsonville, South Carolina; and two grandchildren, Kelsey Byrd of Chicago, Illinois, and Jensen Byrd of Charleston, South Carolina; as well as a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Walter Byrd, Sr.; and four brothers, Arthur Leroy “A.L.” Propst, Sr., James D. “Jim” Propst, Foy Frederick “Rusty” Propst, and Harold Grady Propst.
A private memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at a later date. She will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts.
