Melissa Merritt Morgan, 56, died September 11, 2018 at her home in Pickens SC after a long illness.
A celebration of life will be held for those that are local on September 22, 2018 at the Walhalla Depot (211 College Street, Walhalla, SC 29691). An additional celebration of life will be held in South Florida at a later date.
Ms. Morgan was born on 30th June, 1962 in Miami, Florida to Alice Marlin Stokes and William Merritt. She was homemaker and farmer for most of life, and she most enjoyed fishing and being outdoors. She loved people and would talk to anyone for hours on end. In her spare time she sewed, crocheted, and was politically active.
Her family paid this tribute to her, ‘Melissa was one of the kindest people you could ever meet, we cared about her more than she will ever know, and she cared for so many people so deeply.’
Melissa was preceded in death by her mother, Alice, her father, Bill, and her sister, Allison. She is survived by her daughter Mariah, step-father Al, sisters Jamie, Jennifer, and Renee, brothers Roy, Tommy, and John, and several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Sierra Club.
