Greenville, S.C. - Nancy Rao Lewis, 87, widow of William H. Lewis, lost her battle with Alzheimer's disease on September 8, 2019.
She is survived by her children Kathryn Justice (Charles), Nancy Gladden, Dr. William Lewis (Beth), Nina Lewis-Guza, her sister Catherine Tallaksen, and nine grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her daughter Sylvia Lewis, sister Maria Mecca, and brother Anthony Rao.
Born in Scranton, PA, Nancy was the oldest child of Antonio and Rose Piserchio Rao. She graduated from West Scranton High School and attended Marywood University. She retired from Furman University where she served for twenty-three years as a library assistant. Helping young students was her greatest joy. After retirement, she volunteered at Stone Academy, and Furman's Cherrydale Alumni House.
In keeping with Nancy's wishes there will be no funeral. Those who wish to celebrate her life may make a donation to the Alzheimer's Association, 123 W. Antrim Drive, Greenville, S.C. 29607.
