Pamela Willetts Most

March 22, 1948 — April 29, 2022

Pamela Willetts Most, age 74, died April 29, 2022 in Greenville, SC. Pam was the daughter of the late William J. and Marian Willetts.

Pam was born in New London, CT, spent her childhood in Niantic, CT, and attended Northfield School for Girls in Northfield, MA. She followed in her mother’s footsteps by achieving the highest rank in Girl Scouts, Curved Bar. Pam met Bob in freshman English class at the University of Tampa, and they married soon after graduation. Pam graduated with a BA in English and taught high school English for 25 years in Tampa, FL. Pam broadened her impact by also teaching dance classes and by taking on the responsibilities of yearbook advisor for several years at Hillsborough High School. She went to extraordinary lengths to prepare her students for life. Pam loved music and she sang in school choruses and church choirs for most of her life, and she performed with the Tampa Bay Opera Company in the 1990s.

Pam loved to travel, especially with Bob in their antique automobiles. They drove their 1914 Model T Ford through numerous National Parks, around Lake Superior, from coast to coast across North America, and throughout Alaska and northern Italy. Pam learned to sail as a teenager, and then enjoyed sailing with family to the FL Keys, the Dry Tortugas, and the Bahamas. Pam treasured the meaningful time she spent in the Holy Land and while on missions in Cuba and Eleuthera.

Pam was a proud member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, and she enjoyed researching and documenting her storied ancestry, which includes 13 patriots of the Revolutionary War and multiple passengers of the Mayflower. In keeping with her love of history and storytelling, Pam volunteered her time as a docent at Heritage Village in Largo, FL, and then at the Blue Ridge Institute in Ferrum, VA. Pam couldn’t resist a beautiful skein of yarn, so she knit over one hundred lovely prayer shawls that she donated to hospitals and hospices over the years.

Pam is survived by her husband of 51 years, Robert “Bob” Most of Greenville SC; by her children Craig Most (Karen Paul-Green) of Tampa FL, Karen Most Sturgis (Brandon) of Greenville SC, and Eric Most (Jacqie) of Colorado Springs CO; by her brothers Bill Willetts (Nancy) of Niantic CT and Jonathan Willetts (Dortha) of Middletown CT; by her sister-in-law Barbara Most of Riva MD; and by her six wonderful grandchildren. She was pre-deceased by her brother-in-law Bill Most.
