Patricia (Pat) Ritter Schweitzer

June 20, 1949 — November 18, 2021

Patricia (Pat) Ritter Schweitzer passed away at her home in Greenville November 18, 2021, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Pat is survived by her loving son Christopher (Chris) of Atlanta, Ga, cousins Suzanne Ritter Brewer and Carol Zembeck Meland, both of Texas, and her loyal dog Tex. Pat was preceded in death by her parents USAF Col. Lattie and Rose Ritter, and her brother Richard Ritter.

Pat was born June 20, 1949 in Newport News, Virginia. She was born into a military family and grew up all over the world. She lived in Hawaii, Japan, Texas, Italy, Alabama, Myrtle Beach and many other places. She graduated from Colorado State University with a degree in fashion design while her brother attended the Air Force Academy. Pat was passionate about many things, including Italy where she felt most at home. She loved the Old Country. This was often reflected in her artwork. She loved to paint with watercolors. Her three biggest loves, after family and friends, were animals, cooking, and gardening. She was an active member of the Greenville Master Gardeners and worked for Martin Garden Center for many years with the shared goal of spreading beauty through plants and love. Pat started volunteering her time in the 1980’s to The Greenville Humane Society where she helped strengthen the Pet Therapy program and eventually served for many years on the Board of Directors. Pat will be sorely missed by all her friends, family, and all her animals.

A memorial service will be held in December at a date and location to be announced later. In lieu of flowers, please consider a gift to the Greenville Humane Society
