Phroney Mae Warren Davidson

August 20, 1924 — March 27, 2021

CENTRAL, SC _ Phroney Mae Warren Davidson, 96, of Central, died peacefully Saturday, March 27, 2021, at NHC Healthcare in Anderson of natural causes. A memorial service and home-going celebration will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 6, at Alive Wesleyan Church in Central, SC. Internment will be held later at a private ceremony.
Born Aug. 20, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Spurgeon and Hester Graham Warren, and stepdaughter of the late Ed Brandon, the ninth of 12 children. She was preceded in death by her sweetheart, the late Rev. W.G. Davidson, and 10 brothers and sisters including her identical twin sister, the late Loney Mae Warren Cowart, whom she adored. She served the Wesleyan Church for over 39 years of service as a pastor’s wife in Radford, Va.; Old Zion Wesleyan in Tabor City, NC; Brevard (NC) Wesleyan; Gibbs Chapel in Glen Alpine, NC; Hayworth Memorial Church in High Point, NC; and Concord (NC) Wesleyan Church. Phroney often helped lead choir practice playing the organ and piano, organized countless church cantatas and homecoming specials, was an active Sunday School member, and spread her joy of singing everywhere she went. She always put others before herself, and was known for lighting up a room with her laughter. She loved gardening, flowers, colorful sayings and breaking out into song as much as she loved laughing. She also worked as a seamstress at Pacer Manufacturing in Concord and kept up with her friends after her service ended there, as well as members of her Sunday School class at Alive Wesleyan in Central. She quoted Scripture right until the very end, setting a mother’s example of love and shared faith of the good news of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Survivors include five sons, Stephen Timothy Davidson of Siler City, NC; Paul Mark Davidson of Central; Philip Bart Davidson of Seneca; John Daniel Davidson of Versailles, KY, and James Thomas Davidson of Charlotte, NC; a half-sister, Margie Brandon Carver of Rock Hill, SC; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be sent to Trinity Wesleyan Church Missions Fund, 700 Issaqueena Trail, Central, SC 29630.
