Thomas Richard Engel Sr

Thomas Richard Engel, Sr, 65 Passed away on April 30, 2020, following a period of declining health.

Born in East Orange, New Jersey, he was the son of the late Richard and Barbara Engel.

Surviving are a son Thomas Richard Engel, II of Greenville, 2 sisters, Barbara Kathleen Carr Corallino (Bob) of Hooksett, New Hampshire, and Mary Lynn (Merle) Dunson (Bill) of Greenville, 1 brother David Engel (Christina) of Greenville. He is also predeceased by a sister, Karen Lee Engel. He is also survived by Mr & Mrs David Engel, Birmingham,Ala, Mrs Evelyn Wilson, Jackson, Miss. and Mr & Mrs Robert Engel of Dallas,Texas. Also survived by his former wife, Teresa Engel of Spartanburg. And many loving nieces , nephews and cousins.

Tom was in his element at his BBQ restaurant, Tom’s BBQ. He owned and operated Tom’s BBQ until 2017 for approximately 20 years. Tom thrived there and was happiest serving people with his delicious creations. He had many customers who became friends through the restaurant. Tom also had a successful catering business. He fed 5-6,000 people at the Fluor Daniel picnic for several years. The restaurant continues successful operation today.
Tom worked at Amazon for the last 2 years, where he also had many friendships.
Tom also had a great love for his family and friendships, especially Bud Moseley and Steve Browning who were a great support to the end.
