William D Martin

William 'Bill' Martin, 92, beloved husband of Elaine, passed away on Thursday, January 20, 2022. Born April 25, 1929 in Muscatine, IA, he was a son of the late Joseph Martin and Lois Darting Martin. He had two brothers and eight sisters. Surviving in addition to his wife of 35 years are two sons, Bill Martin, Jr. (Dumisile) and Steve Martin; one daughter, Teresa Barry (Danny); and two step-daughters, Melanie Holcombe (Josh) and Suzanne Casey (Brian); five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. After graduating from Iowa State College with a Mechanical Engineering degree, Bill was a Technical Intelligence Officer in the US Air Force during the Korean War. His favorite pastimes included flying his own planes, golfing, bowling, playing pool, and working in the yard. He was a member of the American Legion Post 28, Spartanburg, SC. A Military Memorial honors service will be held at a later date. Bill will be inurned at the MJ Dolly Cooper Veterans Cemetery in Anderson, SC.
