Zoe (Zoey Overman) Salem

Fiercely independent. A loving mother and grandmother. A caring and dedicated nurse. A loyal friend with a listening heart. Spiritual, not religious. A gifted sewer and quilter. Highly organized always. A bit of a gypsy.
These are just a few descriptors of Zoey Salem, who left us suddenly to join her parents, Ruby and Robert Overman, and brother, Robert Overman, in heaven early Saturday morning.
Zoey was born in 1940 in Johnstown, Pennsylvania. She married and became the mother of Kerry Salem, Kammy Schreiner (Eric), Kody Salem (Jane), and Kory Salem (Gina). They blessed her with nine grandchildren, who were her pride and joy: Alex and Zachary Wetmore; Aspen, Sattin, and Destin Schreiner; Caitrin and Anika Salem; and Noah and Noel Salem.
Zoey moved to the Greeneville area in 2004 and worked as an occupational nurse for many years until transitioning into a home care nurse. Her visits were the highlight of her patients’ days or weeks. She thrived on her work, not only from the patients but also from the many friendships she forged with other hardworking nurses.
Zoe loved strong coffee, fresh tomatoes from the garden, good conversation, and…Kris Kristofferson. Not necessarily in that order.
