Alfred Rudolph
Fields
January 5, 1946 – June 4, 2026
Alfred Rudolph Fields, affectionately known as Rudy, passed away on June 4, 2026, at the age of 80. Born on January 5, 1946, Rudy lived a vibrant and passionate life, leaving behind a legacy marked by his loving spirit, sharp wit, and unwavering dedication to his family and community.
Rudy was the proud owner of Southern Painting and Maintenance Specialist Inc., a testament to his hardworking nature and entrepreneurial spirit. His professional accomplishments were matched only by his rich personal interests and warm personality. He was a man who loved to share stories and was always ready with a good joke, bringing laughter and light to those around him.
An avid outdoorsman, Rudy cherished his time on the golf course, the tranquility of fishing in lakes and oceans, and the adventure of traveling across the United States. He and his family enjoyed RV trips to every state, exploring national parks, and spending time boating. They made lasting memories during their ten years living in The Villages, Florida, and cherished several winters spent in St. Croix, United States Virgin Islands.
Rudy's passion for life extended into the company he kept. He was surrounded by his loving wife, Patricia Ann Fields; son David (and wife Patti) Fields; daughter Tonya Bartley; and sisters Deborah Fowler and Donna Laub. He also leaves behind cherished grandchildren Steven Head, Brooks Bartley (and wife Kayla), Olivia Fields, Jessica Fields, Wilson Fields, and Lindsey Compton (and husband Mike), along with three great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews who treasured his affectionate and humorous nature.
The family remembers Rudy’s faithful sidekick, Rocky, a spirited Schnauzer who was a devoted companion through many of life’s adventures.
Rudy was preceded in death by his son Andy Fields, sister Rhonda McDaniel, and his beloved parents, Alfred and Ruth Fields, whose memories he carried in his heart throughout his life.
A memorial service to honor Rudy’s remarkable life will be held on June 12, 2026, in the Village Center at Rolling Green Village, in the Blue Ridge Room D, at 4:00 PM. Following the service, a visitation with family will take place at the same location from 4:30 - 6:00 PM, offering friends and loved ones an opportunity to share their memories and celebrate his enduring spirit.
Alfred Rudolph Fields was more than a devoted husband, father, and entrepreneur; he was a source of laughter, love, and inspiration to all who knew him. His legacy will live on in the stories shared, the family he nurtured, and the many lives he touched with his kindness and humor. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who had the privilege to know him.
