Allen Templeton
Slaughter
April 9, 1955 – May 28, 2026
Allen Templeton Slaughter, 71, of Aiken, South Carolina, died at home on May 28, 2026, surrounded by his family, two years after the diagnosis of brain cancer.
Born April 9, 1955, in Washington, D.C., Allen grew up in Kensington, Maryland. A Master Electrician by trade, he was selected for IBEW Local 26's competitive Inside Wireman "A" apprenticeship and graduated valedictorian in 1982. He went on to a nearly 30-year career at Dynalectric Company, retiring in 2018 as a Senior Vice President of the Construction Department, and served on the board of directors for the Washington Building Congress. Known for a rare mechanical intuition and an even rarer integrity, he was the man you wanted running the job; fair, sharp, and respected throughout his industry.
Allen married Clare on December 9, 1978, in Bethesda, Maryland; they shared 47 years together. He will be remembered for his unmistakable laugh, his quick and colorful humor, and his fierce love for his family. He loved golf, his bike, and Saturday steak nights with Clare.
He is survived by his wife, Clare; daughters Sarah Kiselycznyk (Mike) and Peggy Slaughter; grandsons Erik and Lukas Kiselycznyk; and brothers Blair B. Slaughter Jr. and Edwin Slaughter. He was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Anne, and his parents, Blair B. Slaughter Sr. and Gudrun Slaughter.
A celebration of his life will be held in both South Carolina and Maryland; details will follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the National Brain Tumor Society (braintumor.org).
