Andrea Thompson, a beacon of love and kindness, was born on April 28, 1942, in Greenville, South Carolina, and entered into eternal peace on January 26, 2026, at her cherished home, surrounded by her loving family. An inspiring figure throughout her life, Andrea’s gentle spirit touched everyone she met, leaving an indelible mark of warmth and positivity.

A proud graduate of Blue Ridge High School, Class of 1959, Andrea cultivated a lifelong passion for learning and growth. Her thoughtful nature extended far beyond her educational journey; she was a nurturing presence to all who were fortunate enough to know her. Andrea was renowned for her loving, kind, funny, friendly, and selfless personality—traits that infused her life with joy and inspired those around her to embrace the same values.

A devoted wife to Doyle Thompson, Andrea shared a profound partnership that flourished through the years. Together, they nurtured their family with unwavering support and endless love. Andrea was the proud mother of Phillip (Wanda) Garland, Gregory Scott (Holly) Garland, and Michelle Garland Banfield. She embraced her role as a mother with enthusiasm and dedication, embodying selflessness in every endeavor.

Andrea’s family continued to grow, enriched by her love for her seven children-in-law—Karen Thompson, Laschelle Brown, Kendall Thompson, Chandle Thompson, Kimberly Spencer, Tammy Burke, and Amy Marie Lamb—as well as her beautiful granddaughter Summer Thompson and a host of other adoring grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Each of them carried a piece of her heart, reflecting the generous spirit she imparted to every generation.

Aside from her familial devotion, Andrea found immense joy in the beauty of nature. Her love for plants showcased her nurturing soul, while her passion for traveling brought her countless adventures to cherish. She delighted in the rhythms of Gospel and Country music, often finding comfort in the uplifting melodies that echoed the values she upheld in her daily life.

Andrea was indeed a faith-filled individual, one who deeply understood the power of love and connection. She reminded us all that kindness is not just an action but a way of being—a gentle reminder to extend grace, humor, and compassion, even in life's simplest moments.

As we celebrate the rich tapestry of her life, we are forever grateful for the legacy of love and thoughtfulness Andrea leaves behind. Her spirit, like a vibrant garden that flourishes with care, will continue to thrive in the hearts of her family, friends, and anyone who had the privilege of knowing her. May her memory inspire us all to embrace life with the same passion, laughter, and love that she shared so freely.
