Ann Eleanor Galloway Massey met Jesus face to face on Monday, September 1, 2025, at Simpsonville McCall Hospice House.
Eleanor was born on November 3, 1936, in Greenville, SC, to Ray and Annie Mae Stephens Galloway and was one of twelve children and was a member of Forestville Baptist Church. Eleanor was a lifelong resident of Greenville and loved the many facets of life Greenville had to offer. One of her favorite activities was to go to Downtown Greenville and shop and just walk Main Street with her sisters and friends.
Eleanor dedicated her life to her family, especially her children and her grandchildren and her many nieces and nephews. There is nothing she would not do for them, especially using her gifted sewing talents to make or alter many of their clothes or create home decor. She used those talents to support her family and herself. She worked in alterations and tailoring for many years. She was often called upon when wedding or pageant clothes needed to be made or made perfect. She was often at her sewing machine late into the night while others were sleeping, just to make sure that special item was finished in time. Eleanor also enjoyed music and dancing and was a disc jockey during the early part of her retirement.
She is survived by her children Myra and Frank Elvington (Clemson), David and Laura Massey (Greenville), and Karen Young and fiance Michael Cruell (Spartanburg), her grandchildren Ashley Smith and Tim (Blue Ridge), Andrew Elvington and Michelle (St. Louis, Missouri), Margaret Eggert and Michael (Travelers Rest), Mitchell Calloway (Iowa), Jason Elvington and Elizabeth (Clemson), Mary O’Shields (Powdersville), Kristin Turner (Simpsonville), Que Turner (Liberty); her great-grandchildren Austin and Cameron Weber; Ava Grace and Kaiden Smith; Ashton and Zackary Eggert; Henry, Samuel, and Matthew Elvington; Elijah and Erin O’Shields; Trinity Bryant; Lexi, Jenson, and Lakelyn Turner; and one soon-to-be born great-great granddaughter Alana Faye Eggert; and her siblings Mildred Galloway Bailey (Greenville), Sylvia Galloway Fowler (Greenville), Mary Jane Galloway Roach (Dacusville), and Tommy Galloway (Easley).
Eleanor was predeceased by her parents, her brothers Harold Lloyd Galloway, Carol Amos Galloway, Minor Lee “Red’ Galloway, Hershel Eugene Galloway, and Leonard Earl Galloway, sisters Frances Elizabeth Galloway Ware, Judy Garland Galloway Hall, and a great-great granddaughter Kaitlyn Weber.
Visitation will be Friday, September 19, from 11:00am-11:45am with the memorial service following at 12:00pm at Crosspoint Church, 1019 Tiger Blvd (Hwy 123), Clemson, SC 29631.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to Simpsonville McCall Hospice House. 1836 West Georgia Road, Simpsonville, SC 29680 or to a charity of your choice.
