Anna Lou Stevens passed away on January 19, 2026, in Greenville, SC, at the age of 79. Born on August 6, 1946, in Six Mile, South Carolina, Lou's life was a testament to the power of kindness and the joy of giving.
Lou's journey began in Pickens, where she cultivated a love for the simple pleasures of life. Her passion for reading, gardening, flowers, and quilting became the hobbies that defined her quiet moments and brought her immense joy throughout her life. Lou and Chuck loved their little poodles, Tootles, Sassy and Sissy. They also loved their sweet little Bud.
In her professional life, Lou dedicated herself to the care of others as a surgical technician at Bon Secours St. Francis Hospital in labor and delivery. Her gentle hands and warm smile were comforting to countless patients and a source of inspiration to her colleagues.
Lou's life was marked by the love she shared with her late husband, Charles Stevens, and their children. Though she faced the heart-wrenching loss of her son, Leslie Cater, Lou’s strength never wavered. She found solace in the love of her surviving son, Bill Cater, and her daughter, Shanna (Wilson) Creswell. Lou's legacy continued to flourish through her grandchildren, Zane (Cala) Cater and Ruth Cater, and her great-grandchildren, Will Cater, Eli Cater, Charlotte Cater, and Watson Gardner. Lou is also survived by stepdaughters, Nannette Stevens Olsen, Julie Ann Stevens Lewis, Melissa Stevens Hogan, Lisa Anne Stevens Thatcher and Cynthia (Cindy) Stevens Davis.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, January 31, 2026, from 10-11 a.m., and the funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. at the Cremation Society of SC - Westville Funerals, 6010 White Horse Road, Greenville, SC 29611. Burial will take place following the funeral service at Graceland West Cemetery.
