Anthony Chad Blackwell, known affectionately as Chad to his friends and family, passed away on July 23, 2024,in Spartanburg, SC, at the age of 53, and was born on February 20, 1971, in Spartanburg.
Chad was a beloved son to Bonnie T. Blackwell and the late Gaither William Blackwell Jr. He was a cherished brother, a role he played with love and dedication until the end. He is survived by his children Brittiny L. Blackwell, Jasper L. Blackwell, Rosalie Blackwell, Aireal S. Blackwell, and A. Chasity Blackwell, and a grandfather to 10 grandchildren. Chad is preceded in death by his son Anthony Bryson Blackwell.
Chad was the grandson of the late George P. Tuck Sr., Geneva Lawter Tuck, Gaither William Blackwell Sr., and Faye Henson Blackwell. His family roots were deep, and he often shared fond memories of his grandparents, who played a significant role in his upbringing. He was predeceased by his brothers, Jeffrey W. Blackwell and Gregory P. Blackwell, whose memories he kept alive through stories and shared experiences. Chad also leaves behind two uncles, many cousins, and a community of friends who will miss his warm presence.
Chad was a graduate of Dorman High School and also received a certificate from RD Anderson. Chad earned a certificate in Auto Mechanics, a field in which he demonstrated exceptional skill and passion. His professional life included dedicated service at Kohler Co. and Exopack.
As we say goodbye to Chad, we celebrate a life that, though not without its sorrows, was filled with love, laughter, and the making of cherished memories. His legacy is one of love and strength, and it will live on through his children and the many lives he touched.
A Memorial Service will be held at Croft Baptist, 4190 East Croft Circle, Spartanburg, SC 29302 on August 31, at 2 PM.
Visitation with family and friends will be held following the service in the church social hall.
