Anthony Ray Miller, known to family and friends as Tony, passed away on June 30, 2026, in Greenville, South Carolina, at the age of 66.

Tony was born on July 6, 1959, in Birmingham, Alabama, to the late Alex and Sarah Miller. He grew up surrounded by the bonds of family that would remain an important part of his life throughout the years. He was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved brother, Harvey Miller. He is survived by his sister, Carol Porter and her husband Brian; his brothers, Bennett Miller and his wife Martha, and Johnny Miller; his nieces, Janna Botts, Sarah Speed, Haley Miller, and Romana Porter; his nephew, Chris Haley; four great-nieces; four great-nephews; and many cousins who will cherish his memory.

Tony was a proud United States Army veteran, and his service reflected the sense of duty, discipline, and strength that defined much of his life. He carried himself with quiet dignity and a steady presence that brought comfort to those around him. Those who knew him best will remember a man who was kind in spirit, intelligent in thought, and passionate in the things he loved. He faced life with determination and a thoughtful heart, and he left a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Tony had a deep appreciation for reading, especially science fiction and fantasy, where he found adventure, imagination, and wonder. He also enjoyed storytelling and writing, talents that reflected both his creativity and his love of language. He found peace in walking in the woods, where he could enjoy the beauty of nature and the quiet moments that brought him calm. He also loved cats, whose companionship brought him joy and comfort. These interests were a true reflection of his personality and the gentle, reflective nature that so many admired.

He will be remembered for the way he listened, the way he shared his thoughts, and the way he made others feel seen and valued. Tony had a gift for conversation and a mind that was always engaged, and he brought warmth and sincerity to the relationships he built over the years. His family and friends will remember his humor, his intelligence, and the steady kindness that came so naturally to him. Though his passing leaves a deep sadness, his life stands as a reminder of the importance of love, loyalty, and the simple goodness found in a life well lived.

Tony’s memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved him, and his legacy will continue through the family he leaves behind and the many lives he touched. His presence will be deeply missed, but the love he gave and the memories he created will remain a source of comfort and strength. May he be remembered with affection, respect, and gratitude for the life he shared with others.
