Archie William Seif Jr., affectionately known as Bill to his friends and family, passed away peacefully on September 25, 2025, in Landrum, South Carolina. Born on March 18, 1944, in Charleston, South Carolina, Bill's life was marked by his loving nature, friendly demeanor, and a faith that guided him through his 81 years.
Bill's journey began as a young man when he proudly served his country for 20 years in the United States Air Force, a period during which he demonstrated unwavering dedication and patriotism. Bill was a traveling man; he had called many places home, such as Germany, Turkey, Japan, as well as many different states. After retiring from military service, Bill's entrepreneurial spirit led him to become the owner of Stellar Telecommunications, co-owner of The Gilded Lily, and the proprietor of Music Barn. His knack for business earned him the playful nickname "Dollar Bill," as he was renowned for his ability to strike favorable deals.
Bill's academic achievements were highlighted by his earning a bachelor's degree and multiple technical certificates and accommodations from Waylon Baptist University in Texas, which further equipped him with the skills to succeed in his various business ventures.
Throughout his life, Bill's heart remained ever full of love for his family. He leaves behind his cherished wife, Margaret "Margi" Mackowski-Seif; his brother, Howard Isben Seif; his sister, Mary Elizabeth "Mimi" Wilson; his daughters, Bridget Daly Musteata, Erin Maura Sharpe, and Shannon Sohl, married to Charles Edward Sohl; his son, David Seif, married to Brenda Gayle Simmons Seif; and his adored grandchildren, Amanda Johnson, Monica Mercer, Hannah Cornell, Samantha Rahn, Zachary Sharpe, and Natalie Connelly. His legacy continues through his 14 great-grandchildren, who will carry forward the memories of their beloved patriarch.
Bill's interests were as diverse as his career. He found solace in the tranquility of fishing, the excitement of the flea market, and the joy of travel. His adventures took him to numerous destinations, but he found the greatest pleasure in the simple act of exploring new places with those he loved.
Those who knew Bill will remember him as a man of great character—loving, friendly, and faith-filled. His presence was a source of comfort and joy to all who had the privilege of knowing him. Bill's life was a testament to the values he held dear, and his influence will be felt for generations to come.
