Barbara Jean Bramlett
Boothby
August 31, 1936 – April 12, 2026
Barbara Jean "Jean" Boothby, age 89, went to her Heavenly home on April 12, 2026. She was the daughter of the late Alfred Leon Bramlett and Lula Blanche Bramlett.
Jean was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She is survived by her loving husband, Chuck Boothby. Jean and Chuck shared a love for their church and traveling together, and she especially enjoyed dancing.
Jean faithfully served as a church organist for over 25 years, beginning at just 13 years old at Christ United Methodist Church.
Her faith remained central to her life, and she deeply loved her church, where she was a member of Brookwood Church--a place where she found joy, connection, and a strong sense of community.
She spent her career in banking, retiring from American Federal.
She is survived by her daughter, Kathy Loflin (Gary); her grandchildren, Murray Padgett (Carrie), Douglas Major, Hunter Padgett (Brooke), Taylor Padgett, and Madison Poole (Tyler); and eight great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Larry Bramlett (Sarah), sisters-in-law, Dottie Wilcoxson and Beverly Bramlett, along with many nieces and nephews whom she dearly loved.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Michael Padgett; her brother and sister-in-law, Alfred (J.R.) and Hazel Bramlett; and her brother, Dwight Bramlett.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Cascades Verdae and Gentiva Hospice for the love and care shown to both Jean and Chuck.
A memorial service will be held at Brookwood Community Church in Simpsonville, South Carolina, at a later date.
Cremation Society of South Carolina Westville Funerals is honored to serve the family of Barbara Jean Boothby.
We invite all family and friends who knew Jean to share stories, memories, and condolences in our online guestbook below.
