Barbara Estelle Palmer Cheatham

Barbara Estelle Palmer Cheatham, born on March 18, 1945, in Oakland, Maine, received her wings to glory, August 13, 2025, in Easley, South Carolina. Barbara was a remarkable and loving woman, beloved by her family and remembered fondly as Mama or Nana. Her strong spirit and loving nature radiated to all who were fortunate enough to know her.

Barbara dedicated her life to her family, cherishing the time spent with her children and grandchildren. Barbara was married to the late David Cheatham for more than 30 years. She is survived by her three daughters, Tammie Hanning of New Britain, CT, Eunice Johnson Seago of New Britain, ST, and Wendy Pitts of Easley, SC. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren: Shauna, John Curtis, Jazzmina, Kaileena, Javon, Shalice, Lewis Jr., David, Roberta, Sandy, George, and Chris, along with 14 great-grandchildren. Each one of them carried a piece of her love and spirit.

Barbara had a zest for life that extended well beyond her family. She found joy in simple pleasures, enjoying moments spent outdoors with a cup of coffee in hand. Bingo nights were a highlight of her week, and she was a loyal viewer of her favorite television show, COPS. A devoted companion to her dog, Henry, Barbara's love for all living things was evident in her affectionate nature. She spent time at the Seniorcare Pace Center in Greenville. Barbara enjoyed going there; during this time her close friend, Mabel, took wonderful care of Barbara. 

Barbara peacefully left this world at home, surrounded by the love of her family. She was preceded in death by her mother, Mabel Palmer Fox, and a granddaughter, Amanda. Her exemplary life and lasting influence will continue to be felt in the hearts of those she cherished. She will be dearly missed but lovingly remembered by all.
