Born on June 13, 1925, in Greenville, South Carolina, to David Norwood Johnson and Norvella Johnson, Bettie's life was a testament to her intelligence, compassion, and dedication to her family and profession.

Bettie's journey through life was marked by her commitment to education and service. She earned her Bachelor's degree and dedicated her life to the nursing profession. As a Registered Nurse, Bettie's caring hands and warm heart touched the lives of countless individuals. Her leadership as the director of nurses in Marietta showcased her ability to guide with both strength and kindness.

Family was the cornerstone of Bettie's world. She was a loving mother to Tonja Rodgers, Bruce Brummitt (Linda), Yvette Settlemyer (Chuck), Nadine Thurston, and Yvonne Grice (Keith), and she held a special place in her heart for her son Kenneth Brummitt, who preceded her in death. Bettie's legacy continues through her numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, all of whom she adored and cherished.

Bettie's life was enriched by her many interests. She was an avid reader, finding joy and solace in the pages of countless books. Her love for word searches and crossword puzzles reflected her sharp mind and love for a good challenge. Bettie's passion for flowers was evident in the beautiful gardens she tended with care, creating a vibrant tapestry of colors that brought joy to all who beheld them.
