Betty Lee Chandler passed away peacefully on May 7, 2024, at the age of 88, in Easley, SC. Born on January 24, 1936, in Newberry, SC, Betty was the cherished daughter of the late Eula Rae and Andrew George. She was the beloved wife of John Robert "Bob" Chandler, her devoted husband of 66 years.
Betty's life was a testament to her spirited nature and her unwavering commitment to education and community service. After graduating from Newberry High School, she pursued higher education with passion and dedication, earning her degree from Columbia College and later a Master's Degree from Furman University. Her professional journey was marked by a fulfilling career with the Greenville County School District. Betty was a faithful member of the First Presbyterian Church in Greenville, SC.
Betty is survived by her husband Bob Chandler, daughter Cathy Chandler and husband George Allen, and daughter Lynn Chandler.
Those who knew Betty would describe her as spirited, loving, and kind. She approached life with gentle strength and an open heart, endearing her to all who had the privilege of crossing her path. Her smile was infectious and her kindness was a comfort to many.
As we bid farewell to Betty Lee Chandler, we celebrate a life beautifully lived and a legacy of love that will continue to inspire. Her spirit will remain alive in the hearts of her family, friends, and all who were touched by her gracious presence. Betty's journey on this earth may have concluded, but the memories she created will be cherished forever.

A Memorial service will be held on Friday, May 17, at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel at Foothills Retirement Community, 205 Bud Nalley Drive, Easley.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Presbyterian Retirement Community at PCSC Foundation, 2817 Ashland Rd, Columbia, SC 29210, or the charity of your choice.
