Billie Laraine Massey, born on October 13, 1958, in Greenville, South Carolina, passed away in her hometown on March 5, 2026.Laraine enjoyed a fulfilling career with the Greenville County School District, dedicating thirty years of service before retiring in 2023. Her commitment to education was reflected in her intelligent, spirited, and passionate personality, which left a lasting impression on colleagues and students alike.
Beyond her professional life, Laraine was known for her creativity and interesting perspectives. She loved reading, drawing, and writing, immersing herself in the worlds of her literary and artistic pursuits. In addition to her love for the arts, Laraine was an avid Andy Griffith Show watcher.
She is survived by her husband, William Massey; her daughters, LeAnn Calhoun (Robby) and Autumn Shearin; her grandchildren, Addison Calhoun, Noah Calhoun, Sophia Shearin, and Maggie Shearin; and her niece, Christi Jones-McNeil. Billie was preceded in death by her mother, Audrey Jones; her father, Billy Jones; and her brother, Darrell Jones.
A memorial service to celebrate Laraine's life will be held on March 21, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Cremation Society Of South Carolina - Westville Funerals Chapel, located at 6010 White Horse Road, Greenville, SC 29611.
Billie Laraine Massey's legacy of passion and creativity continues to inspire all who knew her. She will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by those whose lives she touched.
