Brenda Joyce Guthrie, lovingly known as Joyce, departed this world on January 2, 2026, at the age of 79, surrounded by the warmth and love she so graciously imparted to all of those around her. Born on November 8, 1946, in Greenville, South Carolina, Joyce was a beacon of faith, generosity, and gentle kindness who leaves behind a cherished legacy.
As a dedicated homemaker, Joyce devoted her life to nurturing her family with love and support. Her Godly personality shone through in everything she did. With her warm smile and friendly demeanor, she created a welcoming home filled with laughter and joy. Joyce she loved to spend her afternoons watching "The Price is Right" and spent hours tending to her beloved garden. A faithful member of Open Praise Fellowship in Easley, Joyce often shared her gift of music by singing in her church uplifting her Lord and Savior and those around her.
Joyce was the proud mother of five children: Brian Guthrie (Brenda Gail), Connie Beauvais (Joe), Angelia Craig (Jonathan), and Andrea Davidson (Darren). Each of her children carries with them the enduring lessons of love and compassion she instilled. Her spirit lives on through her grandchildren: Jessica Knecht, Zachary Knecht, Drew Guthrie (Chanlin), Brianna Forrester (Jacob) and Aspen Mullins (Evan) and her beloved grandsons Landon Craig, Chance Rice, and Chase Rice. Joyce was also a delighted great-grandmother to 1 great granddaughter and 3 great grandsons and, embracing her role with joy and adoration.
Preceding her in death were her parents, James A. Segars and Lettie J. Segars, her loving husband Joe Kenneth Guthrie, and her son Mark Guthrie. Though they are no longer with us, their memories will forever be cherished by family and friends who carry them in their hearts.
Visitation will be held from 12pm to 1pm at the Powdersville Road Church of God in Easley, South Carolina Saturday, January 10, 2025, with the funeral following at 1pm . Followed by her burial at Graceland Cemetery - West in Greenville at 2:00 PM.
As we come together to celebrate her life, we are reminded of Joyce's unwavering faith and the indelible mark she left on all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her love, generosity, and gentleness will continue to guide and inspire us. Though she has left this earthly home, her spirit will remain a guiding light in the lives of those she touched so profoundly.
