Carolyn Marie Anderson passed away peacefully in the care of the kind, skilled staff of McCall Hospice House on Sunday, January 18, 2026.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 62 years, Conway “Andy” Anderson; two sons, Ron and Patrick; her sister, Donna; her brother, Jim; and her daughter-in-law, Gwen. She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Della; and her brother, Roy Lamonte.

Carolyn was born in Virginia on February 25, 1949. She and Andy laid the foundation of their family there before leaving the familiar behind to relocate to Indiana and then to Greenville, South Carolina. Over those years, they formed cherished friendships and created incredible memories of their adventures traveling the world while growing wealthy in wisdom and love.

Carolyn was an avid golfer and spent countless hours on the links with family and with the ladies at Fox Run Country Club. She loved to entertain and cook for family and friends and took pleasure in theater and concerts. Whenever there was a chance to be on the water fishing for gigantic pike or fierce roosterfish, “Mum” was on board. If a new brewery opened, she’d happily sample their wares. It has been said she would cheerfully go anywhere fun could be found.

In 2006, Carolyn fought and won a battle with ovarian cancer. The support of an incredible network of friends and healthcare professionals through her prolonged treatment prompted her to join the South Carolina Ovarian Cancer Foundation. She worked to ensure women and new physicians were aware of the symptoms and helped patients be their own best care advocates. Carolyn became an active and successful fundraiser, board member, and spokesperson. She paddled many miles in a Dragon Boat and helped organize Handbags for Hope to raise money for the Foundation. Together with her fellow teal warriors, Carolyn fought for improved care, early detection, and a cure. She also brought inspiration, comfort, and love to patients by helping fund and distribute Joy Bears to anyone in treatment who needed a smile. Her efforts with the Foundation, patients, and survivors positively affected the lives of many families in South Carolina. She was an extraordinarily warm, loving lady who drew in everyone around her.

After a recurrence of cancer, Carolyn again battled bravely but ultimately opted for peace. Her heart was full, her conscience was clear, and she knew she was loved.

“How lucky I am to have

something that makes saying

goodbye so hard.”
