Carolyn H. Hunter

Carolyn H. Hunter, known to family and friends simply as Carolyn, passed away on July 28, 2026, in Greenville, South Carolina, at the age of 81.

Born on September 2, 1944, in Marietta, Georgia, Carolyn was the daughter of the late Allen P. and Doris W. Hollingsworth. She grew up with a strong sense of family and faith that remained at the center of her life through every season. Carolyn was also preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Holly M. Etheredge, and her brother, Thomas A. Hollingsworth. She is survived by her devoted husband, Ronnie “Head” Hunter; her son, Michael Etheredge, and his wife, Michelle H. Etheredge; her daughter, Julie E. Solesbee, and her husband, Toby Solesbee; her sister, Glenda H. Argo; her nephew, Preston K. Argo, and his wife, Kristie M. Argo; her grandson, Cameron Etheredge; her granddaughters, Hannah Miller and Ashlyn Powell; and two great-grandchildren.

Carolyn was a graduate of Parker High School and later attended Greenville Tech School of Radiology, where she prepared for work that reflected her care for others and her steady, dependable nature. She served as an X-Ray Technician, a role in which she demonstrated professionalism, patience, and compassion. Those who knew her in the workplace remembered her as someone who carried herself with quiet strength and kindness, always willing to do her part with grace and dignity.

Beyond her work, Carolyn embraced the role of homemaker with great devotion. She found joy in creating a warm and welcoming home, and she took pride in the simple but meaningful routines that made life special for those she loved. Her family was the heart of her world, and she gave generously of her time, attention, and affection. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and great-grandmother whose presence brought comfort and reassurance to those around her.

Carolyn also had a creative spirit and a deep appreciation for the beauty of everyday life. She enjoyed gardening and found peace in tending to the earth and watching things grow. She loved NASCAR and the excitement of the sport, and she enjoyed the energy and tradition that came with it. Her interests reflected the balance she carried throughout life, with a heart that valued both quiet moments and lively passions.

Faith was an important part of Carolyn’s life, and she was known as a woman who lived with grace, humility, and trust in God’s care. Her faith-filled nature was evident in the way she treated others, in the strength she showed through life’s joys and sorrows, and in the love she extended so freely to her family. She will be remembered as a woman of deep devotion, gentle spirit, and enduring kindness.

Carolyn’s life was marked by love, resilience, and creativity. She leaves behind a legacy that will continue through the many lives she touched and the family she cherished so dearly. Her memory will remain a source of comfort and inspiration to all who were blessed to know her.
