With profound sadness and deep love, we celebrate the life of Chaderick Martez "Chad" McCann, who departed this life at the age of 50. Though his given name was Chaderick Martez, he was affectionately known by family, friends, and all who loved him simply as Chad.

Born on February 3, 1976, in Laurel, Mississippi, Chad was the beloved son of Lillie Ruth Nicholson (née Hodge) and the late Marshall McCann. His childhood was filled with the love and guidance of his late grandmother, Mae Belle, with whom he spent countless mornings sitting on the porch, sipping coffee by her side. Those quiet moments became some of his most treasured memories. He also looked forward to every summer, when his beloved late Uncle Jake would take him from Mississippi to New Orleans, creating memories and experiences that he carried with him throughout his life.

A gifted athlete, Chad excelled in football, basketball, and baseball. His extraordinary talent on the baseball diamond earned him an athletic scholarship to Alcorn State University, where he proudly represented his university while continuing his education.

In 1996, Chad relocated to Charlotte, North Carolina, with his father, where he began his career with Metromont, LLC. Through unwavering determination, humility, and an exceptional work ethic, he advanced from sweeping floors to becoming a respected Production Manager. His journey was a testament to his perseverance and his belief that no job was beneath him and no goal was beyond his reach.

To know Chad was to know genuine kindness. A gentle giant with a heart of gold, he would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need. Known as the strong, silent type, he led not with words, but with his actions. His quiet strength, unwavering loyalty, and selfless spirit earned him the respect and admiration of everyone blessed to know him.

Life's greatest blessing came when Chad met the love of his life, Tangee McCann (née Hunter). Their whirlwind romance blossomed into a beautiful love story, culminating in their marriage in April 2026. Though their time together as husband and wife was far too brief, their love was deep, unwavering, and undeniable—a love that will endure for eternity.

Chad leaves to cherish his precious memory his devoted wife, Tangee McCann; his loving mother, Lillie Ruth Nicholson (née Hodge); his beloved cousin and brother, Tavarus Hodge; his sisters, Alicia McCann and Chiquita Allen; his cherished niece and nephew, Delaney Lewis and David Lewis; his aunts, Lottie Hodge, Diann Hodge McGowan (Dennis), and Marie Lang; his uncles, Larry Hodge (Michelene), Tommy Hodge, and Roy Roberts; along with a host of loving cousins, extended family members, and dear friends who will forever cherish the impact he made on their lives.

He was preceded in death by his father, Marshall McCann; his beloved grandmother, Mae Belle; his cherished Uncle Jake; his maternal grandparents, Boss Hodge, Charlene Hodge Brown, and Bobbi Jean Carter Hodge; and his paternal grandfather, James McCann.

Chad's legacy is one of humility, perseverance, generosity, quiet strength, and unconditional love. He never sought recognition, yet his life left an unforgettable imprint on all who knew him. His memory will continue to live on through the countless lives he touched, the love he freely gave, and the example he set. Though he is no longer with us in body, his spirit will remain forever in our hearts.
