Craig Raines

November 19, 1964 — June 2, 2025

Greenville, SC

Born in Greenville, South Carolina, on November 19, 1964, Craig Raines grew up in Travelers Rest and graduated from Travelers Rest High School. Craig had a big personality, a warm smile, and an easygoing charm that made him instantly likable. He made friends everywhere he went and held onto many of those friendships throughout his life. Craig spent his career working in the flooring industry, where he was known for his skill and attention to detail. He took pride in his work. Craig was especially close to his mother, Maxine, who he loved deeply and spoke of often. They had a strong bond that carried on even after her passing.

He loved to travel—especially to the beach—and enjoyed exploring different cities across the U.S. One of his greatest passions was motorcycle riding, particularly on his beloved Harley- Davidson. Riding brought him peace and freedom. Craig also had a deep love for animals, especially dogs. Throughout his life, he had several loyal canine companions who were not just pets, but family. His most cherished dog, Slinky, held a special place in his heart—more like a best friend than a pet. Craig spoke of Slinky often and the bond they shared was unforgettable.

Craig is survived by his brothers, Steve Raines Jr. and Toby Raines (Tammy); his brother-in-law, James Tapp; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will forever cherish his memory. He was predeceased by his mother, Maxine Raines; father, Steve Raines; loving sister, Jeanna Tapp; and his grandparents, Eugene and Nola Andrews and Tom and Grace Raines.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to the Greenville Humane

Society or Lucky Pup Rescue, in honor of Craig’s lifelong love for animals.
