Dale Richard Colovin, aged 76, passed away on Monday, February 5, 2024. Born into this world on November 21, 1947, Dale’s journey was one of compassion, patriotism, mentorship, and unyielding love. He was also a wellspring of wisdom that he generously shared with his family, friends, and colleagues.
Dale grew up in Long Island, NY, and Houston, Texas, shaping his understanding of the world and the people in it. His academic endeavors led him to the University of North Texas, fostering a lifelong passion for knowledge and personal growth.
He proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Air Force, stationed in London during the Vietnam War. Dale's dedication to service extended beyond his military career into his ventures as a business owner at Cope Security, and later through his valuable contribution to the team at Advance Auto.
Dale's love story is survived by his beloved wife, Kathy, with whom he shared a radiant life brimming with joy and affection. His legacy continues through his son, Scott Colovin (Kiersten), and is joyously celebrated in the laughter of his treasured grandson, Lincoln. His life is further honored by the presence of his daughter, TJ Colovin, granddaughter Emri, his sister, Sue Staples, brothers John and Kevin Colovin. Also surviving and mother of his son, Judy Colovin, with whom he shared the profound bond of raising children. Dale is predeceased by his son, Jeffrey Colovin, in whose memory he lived with resilient hope and love, and brother James Edward, Jr.
Faith played a central role in Dale's life. As a devout Christian, he walked in love and extended compassion to everyone he encountered. He was approachable even to a stranger and possessed an uncanny ability to make everyone he met laugh. Dale’s legacy is one of kindness, a legacy that will continue to inspire and guide those he has left behind.
A memorial service will be conducted at a later date. All are welcome to share in the remembrance of a life so beautifully lived.
To Dale, we bid a temporary farewell, comforted by the knowledge that we will one day reunite in joy and peace. Your spirit remains with us—today, tomorrow, and always.
