David Taylor, born May 27, 1948, passed away on May 21, 2026, at 11:35 a.m., surrounded by his family. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, veteran, and friend.
On May 19, 2026, David accepted the Lord, and on May 20, 2026, at 5:45 p.m., he was baptized, bringing peace and comfort to those who loved him most.
David proudly served his country in the United States Navy for 20 years. After retiring from the Navy, he continued his strong work ethic at Drive Automotive until his civilian retirement.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Virgie Taylor, and his sister, Jenny Allred.
David leaves behind his loving wife, Amy Taylor; his daughter, Melissa Woo; (Michael) of Spartanburg, SC; and his cherished grandchildren, Emily Woo of Spartanburg, SC and Jacob Woo of Greenville, SC. He also leaves behind his special adoptive grandchildren, Eva Grace and Logan Mansfield of Greenville, SC.
He is also survived by his siblings: Linda Baker of Stokesdale, NC; Robert Taylor of Nebo, NC; Barbara Robinson (Roy) of Hendersonville, NC; and Joe Taylor (Shirley) of Cerulean, KY, as well as numerous nieces and nephews and many friends who loved him deeply.
David enjoyed life’s simple pleasures. He loved reading, watching British television shows, traveling to different places, spending time with his beloved pets — his loyal dog Tucker and cats Foggy and Ziggy — soaking up the sunshine, and never missed an opportunity to watch Jeopardy. He will be remembered for his quiet strength, dedication to his family, faithful service, and steady presence in the lives of those who loved him.
His family finds comfort in the memories, love, and legacy he leaves behind.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 27, from 12:30 p.m. to 1:45 p.m., followed by a service at 2:00 p.m., in the chapel at Taylor’s First Baptist Church.
